“You den made that up” and “You tried it!

I believe in anti-oppressive practice, the reciprocal nature of the person and their environment, and the right of all people to have access to quality mental health care that caters to their unique needs. Clients describe my approach to therapy as educational, yet relatable. I suppose that’s because I have a PhD in social work and teach at the University of Houston. However, I consider myself a mezzo social worker that happens to be in private practice; and a ratchetdemic. I’m never going to speak over your head or judge you; but I will use my skills and education to ensure research based interventions with proven records of success. My practice is predominantly Black and Inter-racial couples, however, I do also see a lot of professional Black women for individual therapy. I welcome all races, sexual orientations, and stages of life.
